2022.11.03 panasonic microwave for parts 2022.11.03 panasonic microwave for parts:

My Panasonic microwave (bought June 2002) finally died (Nov 2022). When it starts, it heats but it crackles
and snaps. After the second snap, it stops and returns to idle. (no beep, timer cleared) I assume it's a
two-strikes rule on intermittent overcurrent by the controller, two and you get shut off. It's very consistent
about shutting off after two snaps. It went downhill over a period of a few weeks, where it was mostly just
quietly intermittently crackling, to startin to snap, crackling louder, and finally shutting down just a few
seconds after being started, every time.

I use this microwave for most of my cooking, so it's really inconvenient for this to be out. I've fixed my
previous microwave by replacing the magnetron, so going to get one off Amazon to test. Good news there is
it's free returns for whatever, so if it doesn't fix it at least I'm not having to pay for a part I can't use
in addition to a new microwave. This was a good one, "inverter" type, where it has variable power, not just
one that cycles on and off full power to simulate lower average power. (Panasonic model NN-S952)
